Hi again. Today I've completed the first draft of my new novel, ALL THAT GLITTERS. So far, approx. 270 pages. Now I have the job of editing: checking spellings, typos, sentence flow, inconsistencies etc. I enjoy this part of writing very much as it's the bit that adds polish to my work. I'm hoping there will be fewer changes than in the past but very careful checks have to be made to ensure all the timings are right and that all the action is possible within the given time frame. Once edited, I shall be seeking beta readers to give me feedback. Bye. Julie
Thank you to the very appreciative audience at the spoken word evening at the Mortal Man near Windermere. Every week is different but a lovely bunch of people this week and an especial thank you to the couple who bought my book, HOTCHPOTCH.
A great evening, too, at the SPOTLIGHT CLUB spoken word evening at the Storey Institute, Lancaster. I read a new short story, an Alice in Wonderland facetious spoof. I have transported Alice in Wonderland characters into my local surroundings. They notice all kinds of rules and regulations which don't seem to make sense, but there is always a 'reasonable???' explanation. Not sure whether everyone got it. . . haha. . . but it makes me smile. Julie
Anyone interested in reading my novel, ESSENCE OF EVIL, will see that it is currently under revision. When I saw the printed copy, I noted a handful of typos that had escaped the screening process. Although they do not interrupt the flow of the story, I cannot, with a clear conscience, offer a book for sale with obvious typos. Therefore, it is being reprinted. This process normally takes about four weeks. I will remove the 'revision' message from my book page once it is available again to purchase (through feedaread.com). My apologies.
All my books are pre-read by at least three or four people, prior to publication, to try and eliminate these problems but sometimes the little gremlins get through.
