MENTAL HEALTH DAY

A serious poem for mental health day. (Thinking of my brother-in-law who sadly died from Alzheimers)

DEMENTIA His mind has crashed. He's lost connectivity. He's gone back to basics, To safe mode, To a bygone simplicity. I wait for recovery. Watch a flurry of activity. See strange movements. Hear messages Of incomprehensibility. His mind has crashed. He's been diagnosed. The wiring is faulty. Signals are deteriorating. Repairs are temporary. Meanwhile, I wait For reconnectivity. His mind has crashed. One day, I'm told, He will time out. There'll be no more mail. He'll shut down, log out. Sadly, the hardrive will fail.
